Professional Review

Uno by Ubisoft is an adaptation of the famous card game of the same name. It has a few variations of the classic rules, online mode and a unique Rabbids deck of cards. Download Uno to kill boredom and have fun with your friends.

Visual presentation of Uno has some impressive relaxing and chill-out vibe. With beautiful and mellow backgrounds, you get this illusion that cards you play are weightless and float in some cosmic dimension or a nebula. And the tiny glitters that accompany some moves sprinkle nice stardust over your optical senses.

The music in Uno is quite soothing as well. It mitigates any stressful moment greatly, and you don't feel like you're rushed or forced to do some hasty move. In other words, this game both in single/multiplayer feels like a safe haven from stress, panic, and fatigue.

Gameplay: 5

This Ubisoft's adaptation preserved the classical rules, but also has to offer a couple of variations and bizarre novelties.

Canonical rules of Uno state that every player - 4 players in total - must be dealt 7 cards each. They are separated by number or a color, but also a couple of special cards are added to the game for better balance. Then some card must be placed in the center and players should match with it one of their cards, that corresponds with the number/color of the central card.

If it's impossible, then another card can be drawn from the deck, or a special card can be applied, to alter the color of the pile. As soon as a lucky player gets the last remaining card on hands, they must say loudly: "Uno!", which is Spanish for "one" or they'll be forced to get two more cards. The game ends as soon as one of the players disposes of his cards completely.

Ubisoft threw in a couple of new rules though: 7 & 0 swapping, continuing game until someone gets a card as big as the whole pile, etc. And not to forget the Rabbids deck, starring the notorious Rayman Rabbits.

For example, one of the cards evokes a tireless rabbit that runs in circles for a few turns. He forces players to make moves in just 3 seconds. Another fluffy villain generously gives more cards to every player, meanwhile his cousin grants extra-cards to the person, who had to draw some from the pile previously.

Controls: 5

Uno isn't hard to control. It doesn't require you to do many moves or react quickly, unless one of the Rabbids has been unleashed. As for the rest, it all works like a charm.

Replay Value: 5

This adaptation of Uno is quite entertaining and may steal 1 or 2 hours from your schedule, without you even noticing. Plus its online co-op guarantees some good and eccentric competition, while the whacky Rabbids bring their evil and cute mayhem.

The Bottom Line

As it's clear from this Uno review, Ubisoft deserves to be praised. It's one of the best classic game adaptations with both preserved cannons and a couple of new touches and nuances that nicely liven things up.
