Ghostbusters™ Review: The Newest Ghostbusters™ Game
Ghostbusters™ is a twin-stick casual shooter game in which you are offered to play for the four new unnamed characters. The story begins after the movie events. Your mission is to defeat hostile ghosts and to defeat the villain ghost, Rowan who has returned to terrorize New York. You can download Ghostbusters™ for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
Ghostbusters™ game is a 2.5D isometric shooter. It means that you can see all the characters from above. The cut-scenes are made in a comic manner. Shapes and characters have slightly surreal cartoonish outlines. In general, everything looks quite well. Animation and character physics are smooth, while high-definition textures provide a sharp image. Guys from FireForge Games used the advanced Unreal Engine Technology to achieve a good result.
Ghostbusters™ gameplay is rather typical for twin-stick shooters. You have to run around locations and defeat hordes of ghosts using fictional hi-tech weapons. The weaponry got significant updates if you compare it to previous games. There are several types of proton packs that cause damage in different ways. You have to switch between characters to shoot a specific weapon. The prototypes for weapons are pistols, rifles, and a Gatling gun. Unfortunately, you cannot choose to shoot the classic proton gun from the original movie.
Though the game continues the story of the 2016 movie, you are offered to play for 4 unknown guys. It weird, but developers failed to name them. When you switch between characters, you see only Player 1, CPU 2, CPU 3, and CPU 4. There is also no way to give names to characters in the multiplayer mode as well.
Ghostbusters™ review test of PC and console versions showed that both keyboard-plus-mouse and controller inputs are convenient and simple. Twin-stick shooters require you to use only the two sticks (WASD+mouse) to aim and a single button to shoot.
Replay Value: 3.5
Ghostbusters™ full game walkthrough takes about 7 hours. You can play solo or with up to 3 friends in the local multiplayer or online. There are no special seasonal events or updates because the developer company filed for bankruptcy. The game continues sales because of the $12 million debt of FireForge to Activision Blizzard.
Ghostbusters™ is a mediocre isometric shooter. If you are an avid fan of the Ghostbusters™ series, you may enjoy exploring this independent story brunch. It presents many exciting locations, new proton guns, and nice cooperative multiplayer mode. It may be rather boring to pass the game to the end, but as for a co-op party shooter, it’s rather good.
Download Ghostbusters™ if you are a fan of this movie universe. Otherwise, this title may appear not very interesting.
