Call of Duty: WWII is a 1st-person action shooter game from the Call of Duty series by Sledgehammer Games, the creators of Advanced Warfare and Modern Warfare 3. The action takes place mainly in the Western Front and historical battles of the Operation Overlord. As usual, there’s an epic story, multiplayer, and zombie defense modes. You can download Call of Duty: WWII for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Call of Duty: WWII game is powered by the proprietary game engine that allowed developers to create incredibly realistic cut-scenes and a highly detailed world. There’s just nothing to criticize. Landscapes, characters, and enemies look like real people due to advanced motion capture technology. Weapon physics are also recreated from real guns so that you could feel the significant difference between them. Blood and gore are also presented to make you feel the true horror of the deadliest conflict ever.
Call of Duty: WWII gameplay is typical for the series. You play an ordinary soldier, Ronald Daniels, who is an infantry member. You always have to work in a team with your squad pals to complete various objectives, such as clean-up operations, defense, landing, and more. At the beginning of each mission, you’re given 2 most suitable primary and secondary weapons, but you can pick up any gun you like from the killed enemies and in supply points. Unlike the previous installments of the series, you can’t just sit behind the cover until your health recovers. There’s a health bar, so you have to collect first aid kits or ask a medic to treat you.
On a PC, you can play Call of Duty: WWII using a keyboard and mouse, or use any compatible gamepad. The console version supports only proprietary gamepads. We conducted a small survey for this Call of Duty: WWII review to figure one which input is better, and opinions of players were divided 500, so it’s up to you.
Replay Value: 5
Call of Duty: WWII full game story mode walkthrough will take you around 8 hours. It’s an entirely linear shooter, so there’s nothing to do in the campaign apart from moving towards general goals. Next, you can have lots of fun in the multiplayer and try to break high scores in the Nazi Zombie mode.
The Bottom Line
Call of Duty: WWII shooter game is the best installment about WWII over the last decade. It’s only competitor, Battlefield, offers a very different experience with more casual gameplay and less depressing setting. Call of Duty: WWII is highly recommended to everyone who enjoys WWII theme, and seeks an immersive hyper-realistic shooter with robust multiplayer.
