Professional Review

Darknet is a 1st person VR puzzle game by Archiact Interactive. This game allows you to feel yourself inside the digital world and manipulate data bubbles to complete various objectives. You have to create all types of viruses, hack security nodes, and more. Let’s take a close look at the features of this unique project. You can download Darnet for PSVR, Gear VR, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Daydream.

Graphics: 5

Darknet game visuals have authentic design providing the artistic visualization of how the Internet actually looks like from inside. The myriads of data cores form marvelous patterns that have a strong hypnotic effect. Even without the VR glasses on, the immersion strength is incredibly high. This title proves that visual simplicity may be the best choice for level design.

Gameplay: 5

Darknet gameplay is very unusual for puzzle games. The darknet itself is shown as a huge web of data cores called nodes of different sizes, colors, and with varying types of firewall. Node’s magnitude reflects the toughness of security. You can also count the number of firewalls as they look like energy spheres around nodes and orbit rings rotating around. The smaller the node and the fewer firewalls are around it, the easier it will be to hack.

Hacking is conducted via plugging viruses into nodes. When you enter a node, you see a network that surrounds the core. You are allowed to plug viruses only into security nodes to destroy them and attempt to reach the core. There are several types of malware that have different active range.

Basic viruses allow you to replace security nodes and reach cores. You have to detect the best place to plug in. Otherwise, your program doesn’t contact the core and security nodes devour it in a moment. Hydras allow you to capture several targets in a single move, but they cost much more.

Controls: 5

Darknet review of versions for PSVR and Oculus Rift showed that the game is perfectly optimized. You have to use the VR helmet together with the gamepad. You can rotate your head to overview the map and use gamepad buttons to select nodes for hacking.

Replay Value: 4.5

Darknet full game includes dozens of different nodes and an exciting leveling system. You have to earn bitcoins to buy various upgrades and power-ups to break more advanced firewalls and security layers. The feeling of progress is not very strong though, so it may be boring to pass the game more than once.

Conclusion

Darknet is a rare example of a highly immersive VR game. It presents incredibly good visuals and the gameplay that is far from being silly. All puzzles are very challenging, and there is no way to solve them by placing viruses randomly.

Conclusion

Download Darknet to get the most out of your VR station. It’s one of the most immersive projects so far.
